White water Rafting White Water Rafting On Upper Barapole River Barapole River
The same principals S.R.A have put in place on the Upper Barapole River in South Coorg. This part has a superb 1-hour stretch of excellent class 3 plus rapids. The Upper Barapole River is fed from the enormous rainfall pouring off the nearby Brahmagiri Ghat, which forms a spectacular backdrop to the river. This ensures sufficient water in the river right from mid June to mid September. Guest Requirements for rafting the Upper Barapole River: Minimum age of 14 years Secure footwear. No slippers No saris or excessively baggy clothes. Ideal would be shorts and top. Man made fibers rather than cotton is always better clothing. They keep rafters warmer. Average health and fitness Prior information on any medical problems No body over 110 kgs in weight. Nobody under the influence of alcohol or drugs can raft. No jewellery, watches, cell phones. Keep pockets empty. Must sign a disclaimer otherwise known a indemnity bond. Non-swimmers welcome. Guest must carry a smile. Other Things to See: The famous Iruppu Falls is in full glory during our rafting season and is very close to the rafting stretch. This is a superbly clan and un-spoilt tourist attraction and is a "must see" during the monsoon. Places To Stay: A stay in the area would also not be complete without a plantation tour at one of the nearby home stays. River Rafting A 3 km stretch of river with around 6 rapids of class 2 to 4 depending on water levels. Duration on the river is about 1 hour. Guests need to meet at the bridge on the T. Shettigeri to Birunani road, which is in the Tata Glen-Lorna Tea Estate at the time given by us. This usually will be either 11 a.m or 2.30 p.m. Flexible if there are other requirements of the group or if we have large bookings, in which case we may run 3 trips a day. We will transport guests from there to the start and return them back to the bridge after the trip. Basic Essentials: Age Minimum 14 years and above. Non-swimmers welcome. No pregnant ladies. Secure footwear needed...no slippers. No Saris. We recommend shorts and shirt (preferably man made fibres as cotton is cold when wet). Not too loose baggy clothing. Change of clothes and towel for after. Nobody over 110 kgs in weight. Nobody under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Guests will have to sign an indemnity bond. Minimum number of 6 required to run a trip. We can group people together so that less numbers can also go. |
