The weather in Karnataka is very pleasant all year around, due to its
elevation. But due to the tremendous industrialization and very high
traffic volume, the air is getting polluted and the summers hotter,
however the weather is more bearable than the rest of India during the
summers. Rains are very unpredictable in Bangalore, so it's
best to carry an umbrella or a raincoat, all times.
The language Hindi is the national language of India but the local
language of Karnataka is Kannada. All signs of importance are however
in English and a lot of people understand the English language, so one
should have no trouble in finding the way around the city.
Try to carry suitcases made of light material with wheels, or
suitcases with number-lock system. Keep your suitcases locked and
always carry an extra lock and suitcase chains, so that if you have to
leave your luggage for some unavoidable reason, you can lock them in
waiting rooms, hotel rooms etc.
Take spare lightweight bags with you while travelling. If you are planning to purchase items from tourist places, make sure you carry one or two lightweight bags to carry the stuff in.
Carry only essentials. Avoid unnecessary items like too many clothes or heavy items.
Avoid carrying valuables. Wear a money necklace or stitch a pocket inside your outfit to keep important documents like your passport, credit cards, travellers' cheques, etc.
It's always better to take photo copies of important documents and leave them with someone trustworthy person. Make sure you keep a card mentioning important contact numbers, your age, blood group, etc, so that people may help you in the event of an emergency.
If you are travelling alone or in a group, try and be in contact with one or two people over the phone, email, letter or fax. While travelling in jungles or an area associated with wildlife then it is wiser to move in groups.
Last but not the least study fully the environment of the place you
are going to visit, very carefully so that you know everything about
the place. Also it's very necessary to carry the travel map
of Karnataka with you so that you can decide which places you will
like to visit.
